What exactly is an epiphyte?
An epiphyte is a plant that lives above the ground. Epi means
above and phite means plant. They do not penetrate soil with
there roots. They might live on a bush, tree, side or rocks
or cliff. If they live on a forest floor they may very well
just send there roots out in the upper layer of humus on the
forest floor, but not down.
