How long does it take to bloom an orchid once you've pollinated it?

Well perhaps the one that takes the longest is the Cattleya group of orchids.

Once pollinated the pod can take up to nine months or even 12 months to mature, and it can take a few to several months for the seeds to germinate once they have been flask in the laboratory.

Once they are out of there flask bottle it can take up to eight years to bloom Cattleya seedlings so that’s quite a bit of time involved.

It takes much less time to raise Phalaenopsis from seeds then it does Cattleya for instance.

Others are very quick, Phalaenopsis may only take a few months for the pod to mature it may take just a few months for germination to occur in the flask in the laboratory.

The Phals can be ready to bloom in a year and a half sometimes out of the bottle
