In nature how do these orchid seeds get distributed and
how then are they able to grow?
In nature some very remarkable circumstances must be present
for an orchid seed to actually germinate in the world of nature.
Number one it will be lofted high into the air many times into
the stratosphere by wind currents because the seeds are virtually
weightless.
They may circulate the earth in the upper stratosphere wind
belts for unknown periods of time where they are frozen and
eventually they may come down as a nucleus of a droplet of water
in a rainstorm somewhere.
For an Orchid seed to sprout, to germinate in nature, and on
a place that is not baked by the sun but has proper moisture
at all times, temperatures neither to hot nor to cold and where
certainly some member of the Rhizocotonia fungi group, which
is the largest group of fungi in the world, is present so that
the mycellium from the fungi may invade the orchid seed and
provide it with the sugars and starches it needs to germinate.
